Caution! ⚠️ Pastel Artist at work! The underpainting stage makes a whole load of dust that can be harmful in a confined space, and it seems I am particulaly sensitive to it....

Solar Stella. Part of the series. The largest piece I have ever produced. May 2025. Canvas board, acrylic, modeling paste, cheesecloth, inks etc.

This was meant to be soft pastels, but I am in Spain and the paper was too hot to touch to blend them. Like feet on hot sand. Pastel pencils did the job on top of the watercolour underpainting.

The Gild Wins Again! (For context see April page). Modelling paste and crackle paste with acrylics, inks, liquid metalic paint on canvas and cheesecloth.

Modelling paste, crackle paste and cheesecloth applied, left to set overnight.
