Gallery 2025 April to June

Grace April 2025. Pastels on pastelmat. Finally captured her likeness, after several attempts!

Katherine April 2025. Soft pastels on velour paper. A present for my sister as a tribute to her cat. Happy with this work and the likeness of Katherine. My sister was really pleased.
Attended a one-off art class where we looked at Japanese & Chinese panel painting as a source of inspiration. I produced a trilogy of paintings.
1. Magpie April 2025 acrylic. Used gold acrylic.

2. Stork April 2025 acrylic and gold leaf.

3. Stork & Magpies April 2025 acrylic and liquid gold leaf. Note to self: birds feet need some more work finessing.

Gold leaf is really hard to apply. I could have gold leaf literally a millimetre above the glue where I wanted it to land, and it would somehow take flight, break, curl up and attach elsewhere. I had to fish some out of the pond!

Summer Term, back to art classes.
Trees April 2025. Pencil drawing on cartridge paper. Learnt how to use graphite dust with water as paint. It covers ground quickly in blocking off dark areas without having to do multiple pencil lines. A technique to squirrel away for the future maybe.

Initials May 2025. Fine liners on cartridge paper. Idea is to decorate a name initial with things that interest the person. Thinking I could have done with an O or H to fit it all in.
